How to Get Rid of Adware – Stop Those Pesky Pop-Ups Now!

If you have ever experienced having adware or spyware on your computer, you know how annoying and frustrating it can be! From slowing down your computer, to opening up programs automatically, to those little pesky advertisement popups, it’s no wonder why so many people would want to get rid of adware. Before we discuss how to get rid of adware though, let’s talk about what adware is and how & why it suddenly appears on your computer.

So what is adware?

Adware is short for advertisement-supported software. It is downloaded to a users computer and begins running immediately. While running, it collects information about what websites the user is visiting, once it has this information, the adware spits out relevant advertisements that the computer user might be interested in. This is often very annoying, as you may be doing some general work on your computer or playing a game, and out of nowhere, an advertisement pops up! If this has ever happened to you, you may have adware and should get rid of adware immediately.

How does adware show up on my computer in the first place?

Well, there are several possible reasons for this. One could simply be that you chose to download a certain adware program – one that displays ads to support its development costs. Perhaps you downloaded a regular and good program, but it came bnndled with adware. Sometimes it is your choice to download the adware and you don’t even know. Unfortunately, sometimes it is also not your choice to download adware, which makes it another reason why it is so annoying.

Why is adware bad?

Adware is bad for many reasons:

- It slows down your computer by running programs in the background (i.e. ones that you don’t even know are running)
- It takes up hard drive space
- It annoys you while you are trying to work or do something else by displaying pesky little popup advertisements
- It can often install other adware, to make your computing experience even more unenjoyable!
- Sometimes adware is also spyware and can spy on what you’re doing on your computer!
- Some of the information obtained from your computer is used and sold to third parties without your consent!

So how can I get rid of adware fast?!

You could do it the manual way by uninstalling each piece of adware software, or you can get a good program that will scan your computer and detect any adware on there. You can then delete all adware files from your computer.

How Computers Evolved – History and Generation of Computers

Evolution of computers has been drastically and dramatic. Computers have been in the existence in the early 1950s, but people were not able to use them. When you mention the word computer most people only think of the Desktop Computer, but in reality computer start with our calculator.

Therefore a computer can be defined as an electronic device that input, process and output information. Lets take in the case of a calculator, when adding figures you are example 1+1 =2, now you will be input data which is 1+1, this data is going to be processed through addition process, to give us 2. Now 2 is the process information which is the output.

The first computers to be invented were very big, slow and time consuming with limited capabilities. Computers history and has gone through various stage as they evolve starting with the first computers, before first generation computers we had the ABACUS computers which were limited by their capabilities

The first generation were developed in the early 1940s with their architect based on massive electronic value. They were vacuum tube dependent and without this they would not operation, from first generation computers came in the second generation computers which were better than first generation computers in performing electronic calculation but still were slow, an example of this second generation was the ABM 7000 series.

As the computer kept on evolving into generations people being more knowledge about them and the invention kept on being better, due to this the third computer generation was realized , this computers generations were powerful than the first and second generation computers, and use integrated circuit normally known as IC. An example of the third generation computers was IBM 360 Series.

The third generation computers led to the fourth generation in computer history, with this generation, electronic function were getting better, efficient and more enjoy with relatively less errors compared to the previous computer . And this are the computers used in our day to day activities. They are also using Integrated Circuit IC for their daily operation. The fourth generation computer will lead to the fifth generation computer which will be more powerful and ability to take instruction from people. This is known as artificial intelligence, in some instances robots are being used to do certain work which were done by human beings.

Which Computer Clean Up Software Should You Download?

Are you looking for a computer clean up software? It is very common for computers to become filled with more and more useless entries as users install new programs into it. One particular part of the computer that can cause the computer to slow down is the registry. The longer your computer has been used, the more likely it is that there are bad entries and errors in it.

What Is The Registry?

It is the area that stores all the settings that are required for the hardware and software to run properly. Even during startup, it is heavily utilized. If you find that your computer frequently encounters errors, you most likely have registry problems.

Why Should I Clean Up My Registry?

With frequent usage of your computer, the registry will start to accumulate with more and more entries. These entries use up a large portion of your computer memory if left unclean, and significantly slow down the system. Most of the entries in your registry are actually useless, and may even become infected by spyware and errors.

How Do I Clean My Computer Registry?

If you are a technical expert, you should ensure that you backup before you attempt to change it. However, if you have no experience with a computer registry, you should not look to edit it manually because it can be very dangerous. Mistakes made in the settings may cause it to be unable to boot up, or even damage the system.

Having personally tried many registry cleaners on the market, I now know that there are many less useful ones that cannot find many types of errors on the registry. One good cleaner that I have used is able to detect every type of error, and can clean up in 10 minutes.

Effects Of Cleaning The Registry

You should find an increase in processing speed after cleaning out. My personal computer started to run as fast as when I first bought it, and I no longer encountered computer crashes or the blue screen.

Proper Computer Ergonomics

We live in a computer age. More people spend most of their time behind a computer screen than ever before. And with all of that computer-time comes neck pain, back pain, and other stiff and achy joints.

Most pain and stiffness from sitting too long in front of a computer screen is due to improper ergonomics, or positioning of the body. A screen that is too low causes a person to tilt their head forward for the entire time they are using the computer. An average human head weighs between 15 and 20 pounds (more than a bowling ball!), and when the head is shifted forward, instead of vertical to the spine, all the muscles in the back of the neck and upper back have to work all day to hold it up. That causes muscle fatigue and knots, which causes pain in the back of the neck and shoulders.

To properly align your body with a computer workstation, start by ensuring that the monitor is in the correct position. The top of the screen should be horizontally in line with your eyes. You should not have to look down to see the top edge of the screen. The monitor should be positioned far enough away that by stretching your arm forward, your fingertips barely touch the screen. Additionally, the horizontal center of the monitor should be aligned with the center of your body, or nose. You should not have to tilt, twist, or turn your head to any side to see the screen.

The next important part of ergonomics is the positioning of the keyboard. With fingers resting on the home keys (F and J), the gap between your thumbs should be in line with the center of the monitor and your nose. Your elbows should be at your side, in line with your shoulders. As for the height of the keyboard, a line from your wrists to your elbow should be parallel to the floor.

Lastly, ensure that your chair is set to the proper height. A line from your hips to your knees should also run parallel to the floor, and your feet should be flat on the floor.

Obviously, unless you have a very flexible workstation and adjustable chair, it may be difficult to achieve this perfect ergonomic setup. However, to the degree you can change your workstation, you will lessen the aches and pains that your muscles feel after sitting at your computer all day. The core principle is to provide good stability and balance to your frame. Sitting in a position where you need to lean or twist for prolonged periods is a sure way to cause yourself stiffness and muscle pain.

Computer Forensics Tools

In general, a computer forensic investigator will use a tool in order to gather data from a system (e.g. a computer or computer network) without altering the data on that system. This aspect of an investigation, the care taken to avoid altering the original data, is a fundamental principle of computer forensic examination and some of the tools available include functionality specifically designed to uphold this principle. In reality it is not always easy to gather data without altering the system in some way (even the act of shutting a computer down in order to transport it will most likely cause changes to the data on that system) but an experienced investigator will always strive to protect the integrity of the original data whenever possible. In order to do this, many computer forensic examinations involve the making of an exact copy of all the data on a disk. This copy is called an image and the process of making an image is often referred to as imaging. It is this image which is usually the subject of subsequent examination.

Another key concept is that deleted data, or parts thereof, may be recoverable. Generally speaking, when data is deleted it is not physically wiped from the system but rather only a reference to the location of the data (on a hard disk or other medium) is removed. Thus the data may still be present but the operating system of the computer no longer “knows” about it. By imaging and examining all of the data on a disk, rather than just the parts known to the operating system, it may be possible to recover data which has been accidentally or purposefully deleted.

Although most real world tools are designed to carry out a specific task (the hammer to hammer nails, the screwdriver to turn a screw, etc.) some tools are designed to be multi-functional. Similarly some computer forensic tools are designed with only one purpose in mind whereas others may offer a whole range of functionality. The unique nature of every investigation will determine which tool from the investigator’s toolkit is the most appropriate for the task in hand.

As well as differing in functionality and complexity, computer forensic tools also differ in cost. Some of the market-leading commercial products cost thousands of dollars while other tools are completely free. Again, the nature of the forensic examination and the goal of the investigation will determine the most appropriate tools to be used.

The collection of tools available to the investigator continues to expand and many tools are regularly updated by their developers to enable them to work with the latest technologies. Furthermore, some tools provide similar functionality but a different user interface, whereas others are unique in the information they provide to the examiner. Against this background it is the task of the computer forensic examiner to judge which tools are the most appropriate for an investigation, bearing in mind the nature of the evidence which needs to be collected and the fact that it may at some stage be presented to a court of law. Without doubt, the growing number of both civil and criminal cases where computer forensic tools play a significant role makes this a fascinating field for all those involved.

Computer – Very Slow Startup?

This article is going to give you some advice on speeding up your slow computer! A few tips and tricks I have learned working as a computer technician. If your computer is very slow at startup then there are a few main things you need to look at. I will list them here and go into detail on each one.

- Startup Items
- Viruses
- Registry
- Temporary files (cookies etc.)

Startup Items

One of the main things that could be causing your computer to be loading slow at startup will be all the programs that are set to load, if you have 30 programs that all need to load when you first enter Windows then you can see why it is taking an age. To combat this you can either go into msconfig and untick all the programs you don’t need at startup.. or you can download a program called StartUpLite which gives you a list of all un needed programs at startup, from there you can tell it what to prevent from loading.

Viruses

If you have any viruses or spyware on your computer then this can also delay startup times. Run a full virus/spyware scan through to ensure your computer is clean from any infections. If you don’t already have a scanner, I would suggest you run through a program called Malwarebytes and get a constant anti virus such as Avira or Avast (All can be found on Google).

Registry

Slow startup can be aided by a bad/corrupt/overloaded registry. Try running through a registry cleaner such as CCleaner.

Temporary Files

These are all the files that aren’t needed on your computer. These files get onto your computer when you are viewing a web page. To clean these you might want to try giving your computer a full cleanup by using a program such as Cleanup or CCleaner. I hope some of this information helps to speed up your computer. Even if you manage to get your computer to the speed you want it I would suggest you to do a full virus scan of your computer, clean the registry and get rid of any unnecessary files on a regular basis. To see a selection of other useful downloads and get links for the ones mentioned have a look at the link below.

Computer Forensics Career – What Does a Computer Forensic Investigator Actually Do?

Computer forensics is a division of overall forensic science specifically involved with exploring evidences that are hidden in various digital computing devices. This particular field of study basically retrieves unearthing hidden data from digital storage devices such as hard disks, CD-ROMS, flash memories and cell phones.

Throughout the years, this particular field of study has branched and spread its branch to other fields such as retrieving email files, processing systems and data packets traveling on a network. Generally, any information explaining a sequence of events that can be retrieved from a digital computing device can be used as court evidence.

Currently, technology has been widely exploited in order to commit serious crimes including ID thefts, phishing and other online fraudulent crimes. In order to keep a step ahead of these criminals, various detective and investigative agencies from different countries; have strengthened their forces and prepared them with the expertise to fight such crimes. Firewall forensics, database forensics and network & mobile device forensics are some of the many fields that have emerged out of computer forensics in the last decade.

Normally, an investigation of this area is divided into five broad sections:
Preparation of an investigation Collection of data from digital computing devices Examination of the data Analysis of the data Reporting

Much like any other forensic investigation, evidences based on this particular investigation can be used to charge the culprits in court. Computer forensic investigators normally work in the lab for hours – sometimes they have to stay overnight in the lab looking for important leads in some criminal cases.

Computer Crash – How to Fix Computer Crashes

A computer crash happens when your computer suddenly stops responding or unexpectedly shuts down. It will bring your computer to a complete state of halt. You may encounter the “Blue Screen of Death” indicating an error in your system. This is a common complaint among computer users. No operating system is immune. A simple reboot would sometimes do the work but crashing is a telltale sign that something is wrong in your computer. It is important to know the causes so you can avoid this problem from happening in the future. Below are three suggested tips on how to fix computer crashes:

1. Remove spyware and viruses. New viruses appear and infect computers every day. Your system may have been infected without you knowing. These viruses can cause computer crashes. Always run a scan and check for these malicious files hiding in your computer. Delete them from your hard drive. Make sure to keep your virus definitions updated and always download the latest security updates.

2. Avoid overheating. Computer crashing can occur when the computer has been running for awhile. If your CPU becomes too hot because of prolonged usage, the hardware parts will overheat and fail. Place your computer in a well-ventilated room. Always see to it that air circulates well inside your computer, that the fan is working, and vents are not blocked.

3. Fix Windows Registry. Registry errors are the most common cause for computer crash. The Windows Registry contains all vital information the computer references in order to operate. When your computer was brand new, the registry was in pristine condition. Over time, it gets disorganized because of new entries being added. Some entries become obsolete and no longer wanted. The registry therefore needs to be regularly cleaned. But manual cleaning is very difficult unless you are a computer expert. Removing the wrong registry entry can cause serious damage. For non experts, you need to have a registry cleaner installed. This software will fix all the registry errors it can find. It will locate invalid and useless entries and repair them.

Having a good registry cleaner will restore your computer’s original condition. You will be able to enjoy its speed and performance. More importantly, you can avoid computer crashes in the future.
